Wall piece or wearable chest/performance piece. Found and indigo dyed fabrics, glow in the dark studs, sequins, beads on hospital gown.
24" x 36" x 1"
Improv pieced, hand appliqued, and quilted during my my partner's immunotherapy infusion treatments at the hospital. The glow in the dark studs reference the inflamed lymph nodes in his chest as seen in the x-rays in the first days of finding out he has cancer. When this is worn, the studs overlay on his chest.
On the right (in the photo): The rectangular organza and indigo dyed piece represents an IV bag containing loose red and white sequins representing the immunotherapy solution flowing into his body.
On the left (in the photo): the x-ray-like indigo dyed rectangle and vertical red stripe represent the IV port he had installed into his artery with it's IV line going up his neck.
